"The first time that I touched a hammer to a red hot piece of steel, I knew I had found my calling. Forged steel has a character and a texture all it’s own.
The hammer marks become like the brushstrokes of the masters, adding as much to the piece as the subject itself does. The hammer blows are delivered in a rhythmic cadence, measured by the minds eye. To hold a forged piece in your hands will connect you to the heritage of the past in a way that word or pen never can."

Some Days at Work Can Be Hard

As everyone knows, some days at work can be hard. This Thursday at BlackWater Forge in Hueytown was just such a day.
When summer the Alabama August sun is hotter than a BlackSmith Forge, there only one thing to do. Take that watermelon that's been sitting all day in the #3 washtub filled with ice, cut it up, and enjoy it with your friends.
Come by and pick up all your horseshoeing supplies and if you happen by on one of these "hard days", we'll share some water mellow with you.
